Accounting and Payroll Specialist

Role Responsibility

Canada / Payroll Shared Services Accounting Support (45%)

  • ERP accounting system experience required, Oracle experience preferred
  • Supports the preparation of the Monthly Management Accounts for the income statement and balance sheet by primarily reconciling Revenue, Costs of Goods Sold and Inventory.
  • Establish/maintain processes to capture relevant information for reporting and compliance with Finance Policies and Baseline Controls, such as monitoring PPV/IPV and Freight to properly value inventory.
  • Create and book US and Canadian entity payroll/benefits journal entries.
  • Consult with other entity GL owners as necessary in support of actual to budget payroll differences.
  • Assist in the forecasting associated with the Canadian entity and Payroll.

Performance of Payroll functions (45%)

  • Manage relationship with Celergo for US and Canada payrolls
  • Proficient in payroll software - ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Experience as a payroll specialist - trustworthy and attention to confidentiality
  • Processes payroll for multiple entities/countries and multiple states (US and Canada)
  • Maintains payroll system and related records by gathering, calculating and inputting data
  • Computes employee take home pay based on salary or time records, benefits and taxes
  • Adheres to payroll policies and procedures and complies with relevant law
  • Reviews/supports the filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports by payroll company
  • Processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments
  • Completes payroll reports for record-keeping purposes or managerial review
  • Follows up on mailing notices from Federal and State Agencies for resolution
  • Completes full independent second review for other payrolls prior to submission timely and accurately
  • Reconciles benefits between payroll and invoice and ensures monthly benefit invoices are paid
  • Provide backup for other payrolls as needed

Miscellaneous Projects and to be defined activities (10%)

  • Provide information for workers compensation for renewal and audit
  • Responsible for all setup and changes in Oracle of customers and suppliers

Overall Responsibility

This position supports the Canadian Controller and Payroll Shared Services Manager.  This includes performing certain accounting responsibilities for the Canadian Entity as well as processing payroll for Canada and certain US entities.  This can also include supporting financial and management reporting, forecasts and budgets in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

This position will interact with the personnel within the Canadian entity in the performance of their job function as well as Human Resources, Operational Personnel and Celergo/ADP in the completion of Payroll functions with the ultimate goal of accurate and timely reporting and completion of reconciliations as applicable within Dechra Financial Policies.

Travel - 10%.
