The Opportunity 

  • Continue the development of an effective and efficient, customer driven supply chain across North America and International to support Dechra’s growth agenda
  • Responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring North America and International’s supply chain in order to maximise efficiency and productivity
  • Responsible for successful operation of the S&OP process and the planning process
  • Responsible for major supply chain related projects e.g. successful implementation and development of the Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning module, serialisation implementation (if applicable)
  • Accountable for the  design, development  and facilitating execution of the end to end logistics, warehousing & distribution requirements for DECHRA in North America (USA, Mexico and Canada) in alignment with the global strategy for DPM&S and in accordance with  all global standards/regulations,  in a commercially balanced way to achieve the wider Dechra aims and objectives
  • Act as a focal point for supply chain relationships with country organisations, internal manufacturing sites, external suppliers, warehousing (both internal and 3PL) and distribution partners.

Role Responsibility

The Challenge

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Management of over approx. 60 global 3rd Party suppliers of finished products – both where Dechra owns the Marketing Authorisation and for in-licencing arrangements. Responsibilities include ownership of supply contract adherence, participation in contract negotiations, carrying out supplier audits (in conjunction with the quality team) and putting in place measurement systems to ensure effective and efficient supply relationships
  • Track day to day stock levels to pre-empt and manage potential and actual issues
  • Liaise with Commercial and Manufacturing on demand and availability issues
  • Devise and manage inventory strategies relating to existing items, new products, and product phase-outs
  • As part of the Supply chain team, responsible for developing Dechra’s supply chain strategy through in depth knowledge of existing supply chain requirements (established and new products) linked to delivery capabilities both internally and through external suppliers
  • Further develop the existing S&OP process to fully integrate operations and new business entities and supply detail, this should also include the product discontinuation process
  • Ensure clear planning principles are developed (e.g. six month fixed planning window) including twelve month visibility of orders
  • Map key supply processes to drive supply chain efficiencies through identification of key process steps, establishment of appropriate KPIs and reporting and linking processes to enhanced job roles
  • Ensure the appropriate level of serialisation capability (where applicable) to meet both animal and human pharma requirements (with Dechra acting as a contract manufacturer)
  • Determine and report on key supply chain KPI’s
  • Line Management Responsibility for the supply planners for CMO’s and In License. Indirect line from the internal manufacturing sites
  • Manage customs documentation, as well as inbound shipments of API and finished goods to CMO’s and our 3PL operations
  • Accountable for all site to site materials movement in North America including for use in Dechra manufacturing, internal finished goods movement, and distribution of finished products to customers.
  • Implement and review  the logistics strategy and best practices for  North America logistics processes that enable the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow.
  • Responsible global trade compliance, including structure and organizational definition and implementation of processes and procedures for such items as country of origin, declared value of goods, and harmonized tariff schedules for all products and materials.
  • Responsible for all FDA, DEA,  regional, and local regulatory requirements pertaining to the warehousing and transportation of Dechra raw materials and finished goods. 
  • Generation of a best in class distribution network. Cold Chain Logistics, 3PL Management, Carrier Management, Import/Export Compliance and product Distribution will also be within the positions remit.
  • Collaborative approach, ability to build relationships across multi sites and multi culturally, empowers and develops people, energetic and tenacious.  Ability to balance strategic/big picture with a hands on, practical approach to getting the job done.  Strong commercial understanding and demonstrable experience of improving customer service whilst managing costs and improving efficiency is essential.  The right fit with the Dechra culture is essential

  • Minimum 5+ years Supply Chain Ops (production planning, demand planning/forecasting, inventory management, 3PL management, procurement)
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience, preferably  in MSC/ MBA in relevant subject
  • International Supply Chain experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence various levels in a matrix structure
  • S&OP/IBP implementation and improvement
  • Strong leadership and development of a team and its performance
  • Customer/supplier focus and ability to demonstrate proactive relationship building
  • Ability to speak/ understand Spanish
  • APICS certification
