Calibration Supervisor

The Opportunity 

Oversee and coordinate calibration activities for the equipment and facility to assure they are in compliance with cGMP requirements.   

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Coordinate the activities of the calibration team in performing maintenance and calibration of equipment and instrumentation assets.  

  • Ensure minimal unscheduled downtime through fast and effective response to instrumentation issues, monitor the performance of the line post breakdown to ensure it is fully operational.  

  • Support Engineering RCA (root cause analysis) to prevent issues from re-occurring.    

  • Supervision of vendor representatives, contractors and service providers assisting in delivery of calibration services.  

  • Communicate and document all troubleshooting/repair activities following the current procedures.   

  • Submit written reports for the calibration and/or repair work performed.    

  • Responsible for assuring the maintenance and calibration work of the team is performed timely, professionally, and according to cGMP.   

  • Perform and approve actions related to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required.  

  • Ensuring all members of the calibration team are properly trained on the relevant engineering procedures and they have adequate knowledge of cGMP.   

  • Assigns responsibilities for performing and reviews the supported documentation for the assigned calibration activities.  

  • Perform and support engineering quality event investigations.  

  • Responsible for asset files.  

  • Develop new maintenance and operating procedures.  

  • Keeps all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual logs up to date.   

  • Support engineering quality event investigations.  

  • Compliance with site Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulatory requirements, and that tasks are performed in accordance with cGMP, EHS, loss prevention Company processes.  

  • Assist with other site engineering and maintenance activities as assigned.  

The Ideal Candidate

  • Associate degree in engineering, computer science, or closely related discipline required. Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or closely related discipline desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience in calibration of instrumentation in a pharmaceutical setting and prior experience managing a team of technicians required.  
  • Proven technical writing ability to document cGMP changes, investigations, etc. desirable.
  • Broad knowledge in the calibration processes of production equipment and laboratory instruments used in pharmaceutical or medical industries.   

  • Extended knowledge in calibration of temperature sensors, pressure gauges, differential pressure transducers and industrial scales.  

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.  

  • Leading teams and managing multiple objectives and tasks in a fast-paced environment.   

  • Compliance mindset with a working knowledge of applicable Quality and EHS regulations.  

  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Project.  

  • Proficient/fluent in English.  Fully bilingual English/Spanish desirable.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
