The Opportunity 

This role is responsible to lead and coordinate the Equine Veterinary Professional Services (VPS) team, overseeing educational initiatives, technical support, and training efforts to drive strategic objectives in line with Dechra's commercial and product goals. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, management of veterinary education and product-related inquiries, and maintaining regulatory compliance to support the company’s reputation and sales objectives

This role is ideal for a highly organized, technically adept individual with a passion for equine veterinary services and the ability to manage both internal teams and external customer relationships effectively.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Lead and manage the Equine VPS team to ensure effective resource utilization and time management.
  • Collaborate with Equine Sales and Marketing leadership to strategize and support business initiatives, including territory manager interactions, key opinion leader (KOL) relationships, and customer needs.
  • Provide technical expertise for product portfolio strategy, innovation, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop and manage technical documents for new product launches, acquisitions, and existing product portfolios.
  • Cultivate relationships with KOLs and organize technical advisory panels to enhance educational efforts, support industry learning and enhance our network in the equine community.
  • Oversee the Equine New Hire Training Program, coordinating with various departments to ensure appropriate resources and training.
  • Participate in clinic visits and educational presentations (e.g., lunch-and-learns) alongside Dechra or distributor personnel.
  • Attend veterinary conferences to support Dechra's presence, interact with customers, and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Ensure the accuracy and regulatory compliance of educational events and materials, meeting Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
  • Present technical seminars at veterinary meetings and institutions to promote Dechra’s products and sales goals.
  • Monitor and maintain technical competency, particularly in areas related to Dechra's product line.
  • Track relevant veterinary literature for feedback on Dechra products and activities.
  • Address product inquiries and complaints, coordinating with the appropriate teams for follow-up and documentation.
  • Provide educational support to international markets, including Canada, Mexico, and South America.
  • Represent Dechra positively within the veterinary community while adhering to all regulatory standards.
  • Expected travel - 50%
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • DVM/VMD with minimum of 5 years clinical experience in equine practice. Interest and experience in equine lameness and reproduction a plus. Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners - Equine (ABVP) or other specialty board a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Prior experience in the animal health industry

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • In-depth technical knowledge in veterinary pharmaceuticals, particularly for equine products.
  • Experience with veterinary education, training, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills for presentations, customer interactions, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and contribute to product lifecycle and innovation strategies.
  • Willingness to travel for conferences, seminars, and field support- often up to 50%.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, “team player”, self-starter, ability to multi-task and enjoy working on a variety of projects including, but not limited to, technical bulletins, marketing items, PowerPoint presentations and training modules.
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Teams) as well as Concur expense reporting, Motus, and Salesforce.
