The Opportunity 

The EH&S Coordinator will be responsible for site occupational health, general safety, and environmental activities, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, reduce site hazards and risks and promote continuous improvement in alignment with Dechra Group Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Standards.

 

The role will support US-Pomona site operations and directly report to the EHS Manager.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Effectively work in an FDA-regulated, pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate site EHS activities to ensure compliance is maintained with all relevant Federal, State and Local regulations as well as internal corporate standards.
  • Maintain chemical inventories to include periodic SDS reviews, hazard communication training and industrial hygiene studies.
  • Partner with site departments in performing safety inspections/audits to detect existing or potential unsafe conditions and health hazards, determine corrective actions and follow up to ensure preventative measures have been implemented by department area owners.
  • Providing support for the investigation of accidents/near misses and reviewing reports with effective countermeasures.
  • Assisting the EHS Manager in the implementation of Dechra corporate policies, rules, standards and alignment of site-level procedures ensuring effective engagement with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance and accurate reporting of incidents and corrective actions, all strategic site safety targets to improve, key performance indicators and environmental metrics.
  • Providing department managers and supervisors with safety communications and awareness-level training at regularly scheduled frequencies to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Monitoring and tracking safety training to ensure compliance. Assist with development and maintenance of the site’s EHS training curriculums.
  • Coaching teams in EHS standards to enhance knowledge and understanding of EHS requirements.
  • Promoting a positive culture of environmental protection by assisting in the implementation of Group Sustainability standards, including but not limited to: waste minimisation and disposal, monitoring effluent (wastewater) discharge and flow volumes, control of direct and fugitive air emissions, energy and water resources conservation.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts and execute Best Management Practices (BMPs) to transform the site safety culture by directly engaging the workforce.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, testing and continuous improvement of EHS emergency procedures, including coordination and scheduling of annual site evacuation drills.
  • Assist with establishing and ongoing support of site safety committee and voluntary emergency response teams.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators to provide accurate EHS information.
