The Opportunity 

  • To assist in achieving the production plan on a daily basis by setting and maintaining key equipment in accordance with cGMP and health & safety guidelines at the Fort Worth site.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

The Engineering Technical Support functions includes but are not limited to:

Reporting to the MS&T Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technical Support will be responsible for ensuring all equipment is set up and functional in readiness for packing production. Working with the plan for production and undertaking various planned and unplanned maintenance tasks, with some new installation work in order to achieve a high level of service delivery.

Job Description

Setting up of production equipment in readiness for the machine to be run. You will play a key role in planning and completing a range of planned maintenance work. Some new machine installations will be required at times and the relocation of key equipment around the plant.

You will need to respond to equipment failures in a timely manner and derive the root cause failure.

The individual will work alongside a team of maintenance technicians, and can be asked to support some aspects of planned maintenance including pneumatic / hydraulic work, belt tensioning, bearing and seal failures and replacement, lubrication methods and correct lubrication applications

Provide technical support activities to all Departments in order to promote the technical, regulatory and commercial interest of Dechra Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, including co-ordinating of transfer projects and processes, this may result from process changes, line extensions or new product introductions.

 

Accountabilities

Production Equipment

  • Setting up of equipment in readiness to run production
  • Moving equipment to the correct process room and ensuring equipment will run
  • Removal and storage of equipment after production run and clean down

 

 

Plant Reliability

  • Work to planned maintenance schedule for specific aspects of Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Report and request parts, servicing and repair work found during planned maintenance
  • Ensuring key pieces of facilities equipment are ready for start-up at beginning of shift / week and correct shut downs are carried out when necessary

Breakdowns

  • Responding to breakdowns
  • Packaging changeovers
  • Diagnosing faults
  • Discuss with maintenance technician and repair were skills allow
  • Repairing Equipment – changing belts, bearings, seals, motors, gearboxes
  • Creating works order requests for repairs that can be added to the plan or either be fixed then by the individual or a maintenance technician

Stock and Stores

  • Ensure spare parts are kept under control and available for use, including change over parts for individual pieces of production equipment
  • Items are booked in and stored in the correct place
  • Stock level of parts in the areas are kept at a suitable level to ensure they don’t become line stoppers

Paperwork

  • Administration work carried out in a timely manner
  • All cGMP documents associated with setting up machinery & plant are correct and completed in a timely manner
  • Assist in providing technical support production department, and to assist in dealing with queries and problems arising from within the business.
  • Assisting in the generation and review of technical documentation, including SOPs, batch manufacturing records, specifications, investigations and reports etc.

Technical Competencies

  • Demonstrate previous knowledge & experience in setting up of equipment in readiness for production running ideally in relation to Pharmaceuticals
  • Demonstrate previous knowledge of fault finding and using root cause analysis processes
  • Strong administration skills with an understanding of the importance of paperwork and the accuracy and timeliness of submission of the same
  • Good communication skills
  • Current/Active Driver License
  • Demonstrate previous knowledge & experience in carrying out breakdown repairs

Desirables

  • Apprentice trained in some form of mechanical engineering, maintenance or car mechanics
  • Electrical Bias, with current 17th IEE regulations
  • PAT Testing certification
  • Working knowledge of Pneumatics’ / hydraulics’
  • Knowledge of HVAC, Boiler, Purified Water systems
  • Continuous improvement project experience
  • Risk & COSHH assessment training
  • Fork lift truck licence
  • Previous experience or exposure to cGMP

  • Co-operate with any instructions or rules issued by the company concerning health and safety
  • Ensure all accidents or incidents resulting in damage to plant or equipment are reported promptly to the relevant person
  • Follow safe systems of work identified by relevant risk assessments
  • Ensuring when attending work that their ability is not compromised by deliberate actions such as the consumption of alcohol, drugs or through lack of sleep or rest
  • Ensure correct use of PPE and the storage of said equipment when not in use
  • Co-operate with other members of their team or department to monitor and improve safety performance
