Environment, Health & Safety Lead
Job Introduction
The Opportunity
With a growing diverse portfolio of quality animal products Dechra Veterinary Products is seeking an experienced and passionate Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Lead. The position will be focused on the development, implementation, and improvement of EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) policies, practices, and systems while facilitating a culture of safety and sustainability across the Asia Pacific region. The position will also form part of the ANZ Leadership Team to contribute to the development and execution of the overall ANZ business strategy. This position will be 4 days per week, and will primarily be required to be onsite in Somersby most days.
Role Responsibility
The Challenge
So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate’s key responsibilities will include:
- Crafting and enforcing progressive safety strategies to enhance overall health and safety standards.
- Leading Risk Management initiatives, including conducting thorough Risk Assessments and bolstering the Risk Management Process.
- Managing incident investigations, reporting, and subsequent response strategies.
- Conducting compliance audits and activities in line with EHS legislation.
- Upgrading and maintaining EHS management systems, policies, and procedures.
- Organising and delivering comprehensive EHS training programs, including onboarding and induction.
- Collaborating with employees to foster a positive safety culture and effective safety processes.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on safety performance and EHS metrics.
- Assessing and verifying Contractor documentation for compliance and safety standards.
- Work with various stakeholders to monitor, drive improvement and report on sustainability targets.
- As required and when directed, provide support in managing employee injury, accident and workers compensation cases
- Support company wide initiatives to improve service levels to our customers.
The Ideal Candidate
About You

- 5 years' experience as a senior EHS professional ideally within an industrial setting (manufacturing). We would also be interested in hearing from you if you are ready to progress to the next stage in your career.
- Tertiary qualifications in EHS/WHS, or working towards
- Strong analytical skills and a pragmatic approach to systems, policy and procedure
- A strong leader with the ability to mentor, coach and influence people at all levels of the business
- A proven commitment to safety and the environment with an infectious passion for improvement
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
Note: some ad hoc travel may be required. There is also the potential that this role will have Possible exposure to penicillin and penicillin products.
