Group Audit Manager - Americas

The Opportunity 

Due to the ongoing growth of our Group Internal Audit team, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Audit Manager to join us to provide independent assurance and advice on governance, risk management and internal control processes, including:

  • Assurance that key business risks are being managed appropriately;
  • Assurance that the internal control framework is sufficiently robust and is operating effectively;
  • Advice to local management teams on the design of robust financial, operational and compliance control processes;
  • Detection and investigation of fraud and irregularities; and
  • Improving business performance by sharing best practice.

The successful candidate will deliver assurance projects across Dechra’s global operations, with a focus on the Group’s operations in the Americas. The role will be based in Dechra’s North American headquarters in Kansas City, Kansas and will involve up to 20% travel, predominantly across North America and Brazil, with occasional travel to Europe.

US sites are in Fort Worth (TX), Melbourne (FL), Portland (ME), Greensboro (NC) and Pomona (California). The Brazilian site is in Londrina. Other key sites are in Quebec, Canada and Mexico City, Mexico. Dechra’s UK headquarters is in Northwich, Cheshire.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Conduct internal control audits for key financial, operational, compliance and strategic business processes and new business acquisitions. This includes:
    • Detailed planning of audits and agreeing the approach, scope and objectives with the business;
    • Ensuring that audit fieldwork is conducted and documented efficiently;
    • Assessing the effectiveness of management controls, compliance with policies, reliability of management information, and adequacy of measures to safeguard assets; and
    • Preparing and agreeing audit reports and improvements plans with business management.
       
  • Audit work will vary depending on the nature and scope of each project, but will typically include:
    • Review and appraisal of the performance and effectiveness of internal control processes;
    • Assessing the level of compliance with established policies, procedures, directions, and relevant regulation and legislation;
    • Identification of risk areas and control weaknesses and testing transactions to assure controls are operating effectively; and
    • Formulating recommended solutions appropriate to the activity under review.
       
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed audit recommendations and conduct follow up audits where appropriate.
  • Liaise with other risk and compliance functions (e.g. Legal, Compliance, Quality, Regulatory) to gain a complete oversight of the business control framework.
  • Educate and train business units on effective internal controls as required.
  • Establish relationships with the business to encourage open dialogue on business processes and control issues.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in audit or risk management with a major professional services firm or internal audit department of a multinational company
  • Internal control design and implementation experience, including Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Experience of working overseas, international outlook, different business cultures
  • Foreign language skills are desirable but not essential (in particular Portuguese / Spanish)
  • Experience of finance / reporting packages such as Hyperion and Oracle is desirable
  • Hold a recognised finance or auditing qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIA
