The Opportunity 

  • Responsible for packing operations and leadership of the packing shift team, ensuring a safe and compliant environment.
  • Ensure all production is compliant to regulatory dossier and in accordance with current GMP guidelines and procedures.
  • Drive for a compliance culture within packing, ensuring all team members adhere to SOPs and other documents, and comply with their individual responsibilities to GMP.
  • To ensure the on time delivery of all production activities, including key projects, required to meet customer demand
  • Responsible for building a strong, motivated team.
  • Ensure development plans for each member of the shift is available and being progressed.
  • Support the company in production planning and making sure the business is adequately resourced, managing budgets and costs effectively

Role Responsibility

The Challenge

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Work closely with planning team to plan work, set targets to ensure product delivery to agreed customer deadlines
  • Ensure adherence to the agreed site production plan with exceptions reported, evaluated and mitigated.
  • Control the activities in production against budget and have action plans to improve on budgeted standards to remain within budget targets
  • Work actively with Technical Services, Engineering, QC, QA and Validation to monitor and optimise use of plant capacity
  • Ensure we have sufficiently trained staff for all equipment to ensure we can meet all planned production
  • Provide necessary training and ongoing coaching, discipline and recognition of direct reports, including performing annual performance reviews.
  • Lead a compliance culture within packing, ensuring all team members adhere to SOP's and comply with their individual responsibilities for cGMP, to ensure there are no deficiencies.
  • Ensure products are produced to a suitable quality, and the production area is maintained at a good level of audit readiness and complies with company and legislative standards at all times
  • Champion quality and productivity improvements, encouraging all team members to come forward with ideas and supporting them to implement them, where this is possible.
  • Contribute towards reducing product cost movements through the improvement of production utilisation and ensuring continuous improvement
  • Ensuring department outputs (KPI’s) are met and that established cGMP quality standards are adhered to at all times
  • Take reasonable care of both your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions, ensuring all company safety requirements are followed and all relevant legislation complied with, raising concerns and reporting any incidents or suggestions to your line manager
  • Ensure all waste is disposed of safely and in line with company processes, recycling wherever possible 
  • Lead customer complaints, deviations and other investigations.
  • Act as the point of contact for new product introductions and other key projects as required., ensuring that operational issues are addressed.

  • Experience from a highly regulated manufacturing/packing facility, either from the Pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry/environment
  • A working knowledge and practical experience of continuous improvement activities and ability to manage time and workload effectively is essential
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety compliance
  • Proven ability to lead a team and drive change and improvement in that team
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both with the team, and with other areas
