The Project Manager will assist Product Development teams in the project management of Dechra’s pipeline of animal health products and will report to the Global Head of Portfolio Management, PD.  The Project Manager will be self-motivated, organized, detail oriented with a commitment to ensuring projects are completed according to the agreed plan; working closely with Project Team Leads and the project team to update budgets, timelines and tasks in the MS Project plans on a monthly basis and support the teams in managing risks and understanding critical path; ensure that all key project management documents are available and up to date; providing regular budget and timeline updates to Finance and Senior Management as well as portfolio level reporting as requested; willing to work on multiple concurrent projects with international project teams; and interested helping out wherever expertise allows.

Role Responsibility

  • Facilitate planning assigned projects effectively working with project leads and project teams ensuring that the appropriate tasks, resources, dependencies, budgets and timescales are identified and agreed.
  • Create and maintain adequate and detailed project plans for any assigned project which account for every detail of each work stream required
  • At project team meetings, routinely highlight critical path activities, upcoming tasks and milestones and follow up on active risks and issues, utilising project management tools as appropriate
  • Provide project timelines, financial and status updates as required.
  • Appropriately challenge and drive project progress at all levels across all relevant functions
  • Provide Portfolio Level reporting as requested
  • Balance the project management support needs of multiple concurrent projects with international project teams.
  • Looking for opportunities for continuous improvement at Project Management and Portfolio Management Level
  • Provide additional project and portfolio management support as needed to ensure the continued timely delivery of Dechra’s pipeline of animal health products.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

The Ideal Candidate

Skills-Essential:

  • Commitment to ensuring projects are completed correctly
  • Self-motivated
  • Highly organized and detail oriented

Qualifications-Desirable:

  • College degree preferable
  • Certification as Project Manager (PMI or APM)

Knowledge and Experience-Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience within project management.
  • Experience with MS Project and project management methodology
  • Must be a team player with flexibility to get any task completed
  • Solid interpersonal skills and be adaptable
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office) and an ability to pick up new systems & software, including MS Project and others as required
  • Demonstrate strong analytical & organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology

Knowledge and Experience-Desirable:

  • Experience with Project Server/online and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of project management in pharmaceutical R&D
