The Opportunity 

To supervise Laboratory resource assigned to testing and compliance activities to achieve key site and corporate objectives, within the Quality Control Department, ensuring Good Laboratory Practices are maintained throughout all Processes and Procedures. 

Role Responsibility

The Challenge

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Support manager in ensuring staff are sufficiently trained in all departmental functions to the required standard.
  • Have input in generating weekly/monthly resource plans in conjunction with other laboratory supervisors and ensure sufficient resource is allocated
  • Ensure samples and materials are tested and released within a timely manner to ensure adherence to the Skipton master schedule.
  • Write/Review and complete LIRs, Deviations and Control Changes, ensure they are actioned and closed in a timely manner and CAPA’s are actioned accordingly.
  • Ensure ongoing training of all laboratory analysts is scheduled and the training matrix is maintained for all laboratory staff.
  • Write, review and revise SOP’s as required.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of all appropriate records relating to both work and equipment operation.
  • Ensure samples are sent out for external analysis and followed throughout the release process.
  • Communicate and liaise with the Laboratory Manager new quality and efficiency issues within the department.
  • Communicate instantly any problems/queries concluded by the Laboratory to the relevant areas within the company.
  • Regularly review the Production/Delivery/Retest Schedule in order to ensure workload planning, efficient use of resource.

  • Comply with GMP and Health & Safety standards at all times
  • Support peer development through coaching and mentoring.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by your Manager from time to time.

The Ideal Candidate

About You

  • Graduate or higher degree  in chemistry or other relevant subject, or significant experience within the field.
  • Must have practical scientific experience in a GMP environment
  • Significant proven experience of analytical testing of finished product dosage forms; i.e. liquids, tablets, capsules.
  • Experience in a supervisor type role or experience leading a team.
  • Good understanding of GMP, PQS, EHS and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Significant experience using a range of test equipment such as; HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, FTIR
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organised and driven.
  • Troubleshoot and determine root cause to laboratory investigations.
  • Basic Knowledge of finished product dosage formulations and manufacturing processes
  • Highly computer literate (MS, Project Management tools)
