The Opportunity 

Due to continuous growth, we have opened an opportunity for an experienced and people focussed Site Director to join our Leadership team in Bladel. As a member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team, the Site Director will be accountable for leading the Bladel Manufacturing facility to deliver its objectives around People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Sustainability in alignment with the global manufacturing and supply strategy.  As part of the global DPMS Senior Leadership Team, the Site Director will contribute to the development, design and execution of the overall DPMS strategy that delivers best in class performance with a clear focus on zero harm, zero defects and zero waste, ensuring continuity of supply of Dechra products to the commercial markets.

Role Responsibility

The Challenge

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Translating the future Dechra PLC & Dechra Pharmaceutical Manufacturing & Supply Chain strategy into the Site Business Plan
  • Setting the direction for the Site, contributing to and formulating the strategy and the long-term vision for the Site, and ensuring investment in facilities and people to secure necessary standards going forward
  • Leading and inspiring all staff on site by being seen as a role model who champions the DECHRA values & behaviours and connecting to Dechra and the ONE DECHRA philosophy
  • Building the site’s capability to succeed in a challenging, competitive and complex environment
  • Engaging and building strong relationships with key stakeholders within the wider Dechra network, including wider support functions – Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, Commercial, IT, HR, Logistics, Legal; as appropriate
  • Managing the reputation of Dechra in the local community by developing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and external stakeholders 
  • Integrating, leading, challenging and empowering Site Leadership Team (SLT) and fostering a climate of teamwork, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Implementing initiatives to support wellbeing and employee engagement scores to ensure we deliver a great place to work for all our employees
  • Site perspectives to DPM&S and contribute at all leadership team meetings with a Group view and at a strategic level
  • Leader of a high performing and competitive manufacturing site:
    • Coaching and mentoring SLT members and providing suitable direction and guidance
    • Leading talent and succession planning to develop future SLT members
    • Supporting in daily crisis management situations
    • Ensuring a balance between Safety, Quality, Delivery, People, Cost and Sustainability
    • Implementation and maturity of the One Dechra Operational Excellence Production System and the Global Engineering Standards across the site
  • Interpreting local and industry trends and their impact on the site
  • Ensure compliance with Regulatory requirements, anticipate new requirements and propose related strategies to ensure a fit for purpose and fit for the future site
  • Processes and compliance including; risk management, corporate governance, financial rigor, quality processes, and Business Continuity Plans are maintained
  • Managing new product introductions and technical transfers and that they are delivered on time in full
  • Dimensional responsibilities for:
    • Site headcount and SLT as direct and indirect reports
    • CapEx budget and management
    • Site P&L Costs
    • Supporting delivery to facilitate sales

The Ideal Candidate

About You

  • Degree Educated – Science or Engineering, Business, or degree level (or equivalent experience)
  • Previous experience working within a steriles manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of leading operational teams and associated HR elements
  • Must have worked within quality, supply chain or manufacturing operations
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment requirements & legislation
  • Significant working knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies, supply chain working practices & quality standards
  • Proven experience of managing operational P&L
  • Understanding of technical transfer of pharmaceutical production
  • Experience of receiving regulatory inspections specifically to FDA & EMA
  • Demonstrated change management capabilities
  • Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence concepts and approaches      
  • Experience with contract manufacturing organisations
  • Logistics & Distribution Knowledge
  • Pharmaceutical Product Development understanding
  • Veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing and associated regulations
  • Communicating in Dutch at Business level is highly desirable - language courses can be provided if needed 
  • Relocation support for applicants in Mainland Europe is available
