The Opportunity 

Responsible for leading and coordinating execution of preventative and corrective maintenance of the Company’s facility and utilities assets to achieve targeted reliability, equipment OEE, and ensuring compliance with cGMP requirements.   

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Managing and effectively utilizing all resources and relevant information to meet targets through a focused Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Program to deliver targeted facility and utilities equipment reliability and OEE. 

  • Drive continued development and optimization of the TPM program. 

  • Lead and/or guide Facilities and Utilities Problem Solving and troubleshooting to identify root cause; develop timely solutions; participate in execution of work as needed; and communicate outcomes to all interested parties. 

  • Perform and approve actions related to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) as required. 

  • Performs inspections to determine the reparability of existing facilities and utilities equipment, schedules repairs as needed, and develops an asset retirement and replacement strategy. 

  • Manage inventory of spare parts required for facilities and utilities equipment maintenance ensuring spend is controlled within budget and critical spares are readily available.  Work with the Engineering Planner/Buyer to optimize the spare parts sourcing network and supplier relations contracts to deliver cost efficiencies. 

  • Initiates change controls for replacement or modification of equipment and supports development of User Requirement Specifications.  

  • Support preparation of Functional Requirements Specification and Functional Design Specification for new equipment.  

  • Manage facilities resources to prioritize tasks, optimize available resources, and utilize all opportunities to maximize engineering effectiveness. 

  • Managing, motivating, mentoring, and engaging the facilities team to deliver a valued service to their customers; consistently high maintenance standards at the right cost; and promote a “can do” attitude both individually and as a team. 

  • Complete all Dechra people management activities and identify appropriate development activities for assigned staff. 

  • Manage relationships with contractors and third-party service providers. 

  • Take accountability for budgetary control, optimizing spend in assigned area of responsibility. 

  • Ensure full compliance with site Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulatory requirements, and that tasks are performed in accordance with cGMP, EHS, loss prevention Company processes. 

  • Investigate and document quality events related to facilities and/or failures of utilities equipment.   

  • Provide regular updates and reports to demonstrate facilities team performance against identified objectives and identify potential challenges.  

The Ideal Candidate

  • Associate degree in engineering or closely related discipline. Candidates with a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. For example, 7 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Higher-level degree in engineering or closely related discipline desirable as is a professional certification in facilities management.

  • Knowledge and application of ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO 9001 standards desirable.  

  • Experience with application of LEAN/six-sigma tools and principles desirable.  

  • Selection and management of third-party contracted facility services. 

  • Application of problem-solving with a proven record of resolving major issues at their root cause. 

  • Strong people management and development skills. Experience working in multi-cultural environments with direct reports desirable.   

  • Leading teams and managing multiple objectives and tasks in a fast-paced environment.   

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Proficient/fluent in English. Fully bilingual English/Spanish desirable. 

  • Compliance mindset with a working knowledge of applicable Quality and EHS regulations. 

  • Proven technical writing ability to document cGMP changes, investigations, etc.  

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and CMMS systems.
