The Opportunity 

Key areas of responsibility are Maintenance & Asset Management and Capital Projects Management.

Reporting to the Site Director, the Site Engineering Leader is responsible for the successful delivery of equipment asset management as well as key engineering, process, technology and facility capital expenditure project delivery; in accordance with Site and business objectives.

Working closely with key stakeholders, internal and external, to drive efficiencies towards best in class performance with a clear focus on zero harm, zero defects, zero waste and zero unplanned downtime to ensure continuity of supply of Dechra products, while reducing costs.

Occasional requirement for international business travel.

 

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Ensures Dechra global engineering standards are in place, in use, effective and sustained and any gaps have a closure plan being implemented
  • Leads a high performing site engineering function
  • Coaches and mentors team members, providing direction and guidance where appropriate; ensuring that both individuals and the team have the required skills, competencies and customer focus
  • Leads talent development and succession planning for the site Engineering function, establishing development paths for engineering employees
  • Ensures appropriate resources, assets and time are available for the application of a systematic approach to Engineering Maintenance
  • Ensures that all items of plant and equipment are maintained to the appropriate standards to ensure their performance is safe, reliable and in accordance with the principles of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice).
  • Ensures operational efficiency of all plant and equipment.
  • Develops a competent and customer focused maintenance team
  • Manages site capital planning and expenditure, ensuring the capital investment plan is in place covering a rolling 5 year period
  • Manages the capital investment process to ensure that it follows the agreed process from conception to delivery, delivering projects on time, on budget, to specification and with auditable benefits
  • Engages with, and builds strong relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders within site, Internal Manufacturing, and the wider Dechra network, including MS&T, Operations, HSE, Quality, Finance, IT, etc as well as externally with suppliers, OEMs, service providers etc

  • Likely to be educated to degree level or equivalent through experience in an Engineering discipline , ideally with global experience in pharmaceutical field
  • Proven leadership skills with technical acumen to deliver and drive complex facility, CAPEX and technical engineering projects
  • Detailed  knowledge of Pharma Operations and Engineering
  • Experience of working within Engineering, Operations and/or Technical Operations functions
  • Desirable knowledge and application of ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO 9001 standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience of working within Engineering, Operations and/or Technical Operations functions
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Quality GMP legislation (Desirable FDA & MHRA)
  • Proven experience of project management
  • Demonstrated change management capabilities
  • Knowledge and application of UK regulatory standards
