The Opportunity 

The Group Head of HR Shared Services is responsible for leading and managing the global HR shared services functions, both through direct and indirect reporting lines into Group. This role focuses on driving efficiency, consistency, and excellence in HR service delivery across the Dechra Group. The Group Head of HR Shared Services will oversee a wide range of HR services, including payroll, benefits administration, system data management and auditing, employee lifecycle management, and HR compliance. The position demands strategic leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The objective is to drive transformation of the operating model whilst maintaining core HR services that deliver the Dechra People Strategy.

The ideal candidate will have experience in multi-jurisdictional HR services, excellent leadership skills, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

As Group Head of HR Shared Services, the role holder will have the gravitas to work with the Divisional / Regional HR Directors and be able to provide operational and administrative support to other key stakeholders.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement, in conjunction with the HR Senior Leadership Team, the global HR shared services strategy to align with the overall HR People Plan and business strategies.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of HR professionals across multiple regions.
  • Provide training on new or changed processes and policies, ensure the team keep up to date with legislative changes and implement these efficiently into ways of working and local process and policies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence, and operational efficiency.

Service Delivery:

  • Oversee the delivery of core HR services, ensuring high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Ensure the HR shared services function is understood globally.
  • Develop and maintain service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor service delivery and drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with regional HR teams to ensure local compliance and adapt global practices as needed, with clear communication delivered to update Dechra colleagues.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate HR processes, working with the Group HR Systems team to leverage technology, inclusive of AI functionalities, and best practices.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee experience through efficient and user-friendly HR services.
  • Implement and monitor metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR services and identify areas for improvement.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with global, regional, and local HR regulations, compliance and policies.
  • Develop and enforce HR governance frameworks and standards.
  • Mitigate risks associated with HR service delivery through robust controls and proactive risk management practices.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership teams, HR business partners, and employees.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalated HR service issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment on HR shared services initiatives.

Other:

  • Responsible for own personal health & safety.

  • Strong knowledge of HR processes, systems, and technologies (Oracle Fusion and ADP Celergo knowledge preferred)

  • Self-starter with energy to, and ability to, work to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and manage complex projects
  • Displays high level of accuracy, diligence, and integrity
  • Understanding of data privacy requirements within multiple jurisdictions
  • Able to form relationships with wide range of people and strong team player with collaboration skills on an international level
  • Experience in HR shared services or a related HR operational role, with a proven track record of leadership in a multinational corporation or a complex organisational environment
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices in HR function
  • Ability to ensure remote teams remain on track to achieving tight deadlines and key milestones
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in relevant Human Resources or related field
  • Candidates should possess a blend of HR expertise, leadership abilities, and strategic vision to excel in this position.
  • Willing to travel globally and domestically as required with ability to work across different time zones as needed.
