The Opportunity
The HR Manager will support the HR Function in the delivery of an efficient and effective HR support and advisory to departments at the Pomona site by providing first line contact for managers on all people related issues consistent with internal policies and processes and legal requirements.
Role Responsibility
So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
- Acting as the point of contact, supporting and advising Line Managers to dealing with various HR queries
- Supporting the Talent Acquisition Specialist and HR Advisor on recruitment activities to ensure candidate selection processes are fair and consistent
- Supporting the Talent Acquisition Specialist and HR Advisor with on-boarding and delivering inductions where necessary
- Training hiring managers on people related processes and procedures including systems
- Monitoring key HR metrics, such as turnover and retention rates
- Providing advice and playing a major role as the HR support in formal people related meetings
- Using HR information systems to access, input and compile data
- Identifying opportunities for improving ways of working within the HR team
- Managing staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems that they have and managing their expectations
- Monitoring, reviewing and supporting in updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation
- Supporting the HR Director with various capability investigations, including grievance and disciplinary
- Driving the business performance in relation to the organisation’s objectives
- Assisting and supporting the Engagement & Talent Specialist and HR Advisor in the execution of the engagement plan
- Provide advice and guidance on occupational health referrals, absence management issues and return to work cases to managers
- Arrange and attend informal/formal meetings and hearings, ensuring that all paperwork work is accurate. Take notes at meetings as required
- To support the HR function with support on organisational change including; restructures/redundancy/redeployment activity within departments as required.
- Raising the profile of Dechra as an employer of choice through targeted comms, talent sourcing partnerships, ESG activity, recruitment events etc.
- Engaging with the SLT and HR Function to take ownership of site engagement plan developed using output from Engagement Survey as a start point to plan activities to drive high levels of engagement, reduce unwanted turnover, and contribute to efficiency and productivity measures.
- Deliver the implementation of a site wellbeing strategy taking account of key employee wellbeing needs including but not limited to:
- Physical and Mental Wellbeing
- Financial awareness
- Parental and caring responsibilities
- Resilience
- Leading the plan for employee communications, playing a key role in organising and facilitating communication events such as Town Hall meetings, focus groups and employee consultation as required.
- Collaborate with all parties to ensure all responsibilities for the site are delivered in respect of ad-hoc HR activities, representation at meetings, sharing of information etc. to ensure clarity of responsibilities for stakeholders and to maximise efficiency.
The Ideal Candidate

- BS/BA in Human Resources or related discipline required, MBA preferred
- Minimum 3 years proven Human Resources work experience at a generalist level in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work with multifunctional teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at different levels, including senior staff members
- Proven leadership ability with strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Working knowledge of HR systems and software
- Experienced in development and delivery of training events
- Experience in developing Employee Engagement strategies /activities
- Interest, knowledge and experience of developing employee wellbeing agenda
- Ability to research, analyze, and make logical decisions within a given timeframe
- Updated knowledge of employment legislation on both the federal and state level
- Excellent writing ability to present clear and equitable company policies
- The ability to develop trusting relationships with relevant stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
